This delighful Wolseley was in the Tony Durose collection at Hatfield House for almost 20 years . The car was then under the custodianship of Ron Cobb cars of Henlow Village Bedfordshire ; a well known specialist in Veteran and Vintage cars , who commissioned a total engine overhaul by a recognised Wolseley specialist ( bills on file )

The car has been professionally maintained by renowned Rolls-Royce and Bentley specilaists and Coachbuilders , H Horsfield & son in Halifax for the past 26 years , during which it has covered a mere 1256 miles and has maintenance and MOT records on file.

The paint presents well as does what appears to be a largley original interior and woodwork. The opening windscreen and large working sliding sunroof all add to the charm of this vehicle , which will be driven to the sale at Buxton.

General model history :

The 26th June 1936 saw the introduction of the Series II - 14/56 Saloon, replacing the earlier 'New Fourteen', along with a Salon de Ville variant being introduced later in September 1936.

The 14/56 became one of the most popular models to be produced with approximately 15,000 during the short life of the Series II. Unlike the Morris equivalent at the time, the Wolseley 14/56 featured overhead valve engine and four-speed gearbox, along with 'Easiclean' steel-pressed wheels.

The 'Jackall' system was also available, whereby a hand pumped hydraulic system could be used to raise the front, rear, or all of the wheels off the ground.

As with other Series II cars, the simple distinction between the later Series III 14/60 introduced on 27th September 1938 are that of the bonnet louvres, there being four horizontal along each side for the Series II.
