Here is a 1930s-built and faithful replica of one of the great prewar classic caravans, the Eccles Jacobean 11ft tourer, which was handmade by one of the leading authorities of the day, one A Allen, who was Chairman of the Yorkshire Centre of the Caravan Club. The Derbyshire vendor tells us that he acquired Mr Allen's handiwork directly from his widow - included is a photographic record showing it in use from the 1930s right the way through to 1965 in Monaco. Apparently this Eccles look-alike has been unused since a full rebuild was carried out which involved a chassis-up refurbishment.
The overall current condition of this charismatic vehicle, which would really look the part in an historic race meeting paddock or oldtimer rally field setting, is said to be excellent. It should, of course, also have some movie or TV drama earning potential if cast as a period prop. Included are some accessories and spares as well as a set of crockery and cutlery. Such period caravans have their own dedicated following and are well catered for by an enthusiastic club, which holds a full calendar of events for them and their owners.
