  • Original UK specification, Right Hand Drive car
  • Extensive history file with many bills from Ferrari specialists prior to 2009 when the car was laid up
  • Finished in Chiaro Blu Metallizzato over a Cream leather and Blue Suede interior
  • Retains many of its original fittings and the original toolkit.
  • Remarkably preserved in 'Barn find' condition

Launched at the 1973 Paris Salon, the Dino 308 GT4 was a seminal model for Maranello. The first V8-powered Ferrari, it was also the marque’s first non-Pininfarina styled production car. The work of Marcello Gandini at Bertone (whose other 1970s credits included the Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos), its angular lines were in stark contrast to those of the outgoing Dino 246 GT. Enzo Ferrari personally oversaw the newcomer’s ergonomics, while multiple F1 World Champion Niki Lauda is said to have honed its driving dynamics. A 2+2-seater underpinned by a tubular steel spaceframe chassis featuring all-round independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, front / rear anti-roll bars and rack and pinion steering, the 308 GT4 was judged faster and better handling than its predecessor by the contemporary motoring press. The overall cockpit design was considered futuristic matched by the external aerodynamic bodywork. The desirability levels of these Ferraris are quietly ballooning with prices, quite rightly, following suit.

First registered on 22nd March 1973, chassis 14022 is understood to have been supplied new in Chiaro Blu Metallizzato over a Magnolia PVC and Blue Cloth interior to a Mr B Roberts of Uckfield, East Sussex by HR Owen. The car is understood to have been through seven more keepers of which most are recorded in the very extensive history file until our vendor acquired the car in 2001. The car was kept on the road with regular servicing until 2009 when the car was laid up until February 2024 when the car was careful withdrawn from its very tight, but dry garage in North London. It is estimated thanks to records on file that the mileage stands at approximately 45,500 miles in total as there have been two speedometer changes, although the current mileage is displayed at 1303 miles.

Overall, the long period of dry storage has been kind to this baby Ferrari 2+2 and upon wiping years old dust, a prospective purchaser come restorer should be pleasantly surprised. The car appears to be in very solid condition with only small, cosmetic areas of rusting that will require some immediate attention. The engine bay appears to be in very clean order although we are not sure if the engine has standing seized, but given that the brakes roll freely the vendor hopes for good news! The crowning jewel is the beautiful interior is in very fine fettle and the vendor is confident that it should present well after a good clean.

If you are looking for a very rewarding project, this 308GT4 presents the perfect opportunity for restoration and is offered at No Reserve by the vendor.
