The DL was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. The DL150 (known as the GP150 in the UK market) followed the SX range and retained the engine SX engine prefix before the serial number. They were produced from January 1969 until April 1971. There were, however, significant improvements to the engine over the SX, including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day in the early 1970s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new frame and rectangular headlight. Only a genuine Italian DL had the famous ink splat on the front of the sleek leg shield.
This DL150 example is a late example second iteration with a plastic fuel flap and horn cover grille, we believe from late 1970. It was found with a Foggio Complimentare (the original Italian registration document) which dates later 1971 and is supplied with photographs of when it was found. The vendor believes it was re-painted and restored by the Rimini Lambretta Centre but we are unable to confirm that. It certainly is, however, painted to a very high standard and the panels fit really well all over and is, in our opinion, in excellent overall condition. She is a standard DL150 except for the 12v electrics. She has been treated to a very thorough mechanical restoration this year by Disco Dez Scooters with an engine overhaul and new parts all over including a new Scootopia exhaust and new lights.
KUM 54F is a private plate. The original registration, issued when imported, was the correct year ‘TAW 233H’ and it may be possible for the purchaser to revert to this number. Our consultant was able to ride the scooter and she performed superbly at the time of consignment. Currently on a SORN she is ready to be enjoyed on the roads.
