The Lambretta TV175 Series 3 was launched in March, 1962, and it was the first scooter supplied with an internal disc brake. It was a remarkable change from the previous TV175 series 2 with new sleek slim styling. The front shock absorbers were enhanced with extra dampers as in the previous TV Series 2 models. The TV Series 3 also had larger silent blocks than the previous engines and it had a very good reputation as a smooth and well-balanced scooter with great handling attributes.
This original British sold example was first registered in Bradford and we have a copy the Bradford archives for 'BKU 171B' (supplied with the lot). Showing only 3 former keepers it was previously owned by a Paul Muirhead, who lavished considerable expense on the scooter to create a ‘Supertune’ evocation which was assembled by Pete Merchant with the paint being done to a high quality by the famous Berties paint shop and this still shows today. Further work was done by The Solely Scooter Shop in 2008. With a 210cc Quattrini top end and Dellorto 30mm carburettor we are informed by our vendor that the scooter is very quick. It has a Ron Moss genuine Avanti Supertune exhaust, Li150 special gearbox, AF Cassette clutch, SIP 12v ignition, and a long-range fuel tank. The original front disc brake has been converted to hydraulic. The front mudguard is a correct fibreglass type and it has a period-style accessory leg shield box with key. Appearance wise this scooter is striking. The rear frame badge appears to be original. With a green seat in keeping with the design and original 1960s Castrol stickers on the panels. The scooter won ‘Best Lambretta’ at the 2022 SCSA awards and ‘2nd best ridden’ at Scooter meltdown this year. The vendor had ridden on it all the way to Northern Germany and back to Northern England with no mechanical issues.
