Lot 101

1935 Ford Model 48 Three-Window Coupe

Estimated at £18,000 - £22,000

Lot details
Registration No: PDH 595
Chassis No: 9707
Mot Expiry: March 2015

Introduced for 1935, the Model 48 featured a relocated 3622cc V8 sidevalve engine and transverse-leaf springs that sat outside its wheelbase. The result was `The Ford Centerpoise Ride - Smooth as a Swing' and lower-slung bodywork. Long sought after by the hot-rodding community, unmodified examples of the handsome Three-Window Coupe are now few and far between. Built in Canada to right-hand drive specification, chassis 9707 did not acquire its current UK registration - `PDH 595' - until 1st July 1952. Belonging to Geoffrey E. Fenton of Walsall at the time, the 2+2-seater then passed to Geoffrey G Jeakins of Walton-on-the-Naze before entering the current ownership during August 2010. Presenting as an older restoration, the Ford sports a greyhound mascot, wood-effect painted dashboard, rumble seat and brown pinstripe cloth upholstery. Showing an unwarranted 79,941 miles to its odometer, this desirable Three-Window Coupe is offered for sale with buff logbook, V5C Registration Document and fresh MOT certificate.
