One of the longest serving manufacturers in Formula Ford, Jamun Racing Services was founded in 1969 by ex-aeronautical engineer Tony Mundy. Winner of last year's Championship, the Kent-based firm enjoys an enduring reputation for the quality, sophistication and durability of its products.
Finished in black with silver stripes, this 1971 Jamun T2 Formula Ford single-seater is variously described by the vendor as being in "OK" (interior trim), "good" (fibreglass bodywork, paintwork), "excellent" (1600cc Ford 'Kent' engine, Hewland MK9 four-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, wheels / tyres) or "perfect" (spaceframe chassis) condition. Reputedly once owned by the father of former F1 and current Champ Car series driver Justin Wilson, the Jamun has spent the last three seasons competing with the HSCC in the Historic Formula Ford and Classic Racing Car championships. Said to have been "maintained regardless of cost by a Formula Ford specialist" during that time and to still remain in "good all round working order", its most recent outing was at Castle Coombe a few weeks ago. One of three Jamun T2s competing on a regular basis, the single-seater is considered to have "front runner potential" with the right driver behind the wheel and certainly benefits from impressive spares availability thanks to its manufacturer's sense of heritage. An inexpensive entry to historic motorsport and one that could allow the prospective purchaser to experience memorable dices on some of Europe's greatest circuits, this well maintained Formula Ford racer is offered for sale with a spare set of wheels and Dunlop racing tyres.
