The late sixties and early seventies had seen the Honda CB 350/360 series of machines dominating sales in the lucrative American market. The other Japanese manufacturers offered various two strokes to compete, however as the decade progressed and emission legislation became tighter Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki all introduced four stroke twins in 400cc class. Kawasaki's first machine, the Z400, featured styling that reflected that of the larger four cylinder machines and would with development and increases in capacity remain a mainstay of the Kawasaki range for the next decade.
This example of the KZ440 formed, until recently, part of the Petersen Collection in Los Angeles and has consequently never been used. It is offered in as new condition with only three miles recorded on the odometer. It is offered Vat and duty paid without reserve.
