Quality and quantity represented at mammoth classic motorcycle auction

• Mammoth classic motorcycle and vintage scooter auction to take place on 30^th October at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull
• More than 265 motorcycles and scooters, plus eight distinctive charity lots, going under the hammer
• One of the largest two-wheeler auctions ever held by H&H Classics

In one of their biggest offerings ever, more than 265 classic motorcycles and vintage scooters will be going under the hammer with H&H Classics on 30^th October at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.

Underlining the scale and breadth of the auction, the machines on offer span more than 111 years of two-wheel history and have a combined estimated value of more than £1.5 million.

Furthermore, the sale will also include eight distinctive charity lots, including paintings by children on Norton motorcycle unused fuel tanks which have been mounted onto frames, with proceeds going to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Pass the Smile.

Commenting on the upcoming sale, Mike Davis, motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: “This, our last motorcycle and scooter auction of 2024, is one of the largest we’ve held for several years and it is a pleasure to offer such a fantastic mix.

“Whether you’re looking for something with a celebrity connection, racing pedigree, rarity or thrilling performance, there really is something on offer for every kind of classic motorcycle or scooter enthusiast. We look forward to meeting plenty of two-wheel fans at the sale and achieving some great results for our valued vendors.”

One of the highest valued lots on offer is a genuine ex Tony Jefferies 1972 Triumph Trident Ex Works Racer, estimated at £45,000-£55,000. It has been described by the Rocket 3 Owner’s Club as ‘probably the most complete and original of all the Works bikes’.

It is also possibly the most authentic example of this iconic and historically important bike, and was in the personal collection of Richard Darby, regarded as one of the world’s best restorers of classic Triumphs, before his sad passing in 2023.

Continuing with the racing theme, fans of one of the UK’s most famous racers can bid on a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 K5 Barry Sheene Edition. Production, which was to commemorate the life and achievements of the legendary rider, was limited to just 50 units and this very special edition will be offer with an estimate of £10,000-£12,000.

Another bike on offer with a celebrity connection is a 2021 Rickman Metisse Steve McQueen Tribute. One of just 300 produced and rarely available for ownership, is estimated between £17,000-£19,000.

One of numerous notable motorcycles which are sure to attract keen interest include a beautifully restored 1942 Indian 741 B, estimated to fetch between £17,000-£19,000, which has been family owned since the 1970s and restored by ‘Indian man’ Alan Forbes in 1996.

A very rare and stunning 1970 Indian Interceptor, just one of 25 ‘Floyd Clymer’ models built before the entrepreneur died is also going under the hammer. Estimated at £21,000-£23,000, the example being offered has been meticulously looked after by its owner and covered just 50 miles since an incredibly high standard restoration.

Meanwhile a sought after 1975 Norton John Player Special, is estimated to fetch between £11,000-£13,000. The bike is one of just 200 produced, of which about 120 were exported to the US, and is being offered still in mostly original condition.

Also available and being offered without reserve is an ‘as new’ 1975 Suzuki RE5. With just five ‘push kilometres’, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a collector or museum to own, quite possibly, the last ‘brand-new’ Suzuki RE5 left to come to open market.

All lots will be available to view at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, from 1pm onwards on Tuesday 29^th October and from 9am on the sale day itself, Wednesday 30^th October.
