Jaguar introduced their small saloon in 1955 and called it the Mk I and so, quite logically, when its replacement came along in 1959 it was called the Mk 2. This has become, without doubt, the best classic saloon available and examples with the 3800cc engine are the most desirable - you are assured of the drive of your life both on and off the track!
Today's example was an original UK car, manufactured in 1963 and registered at Henley's of Manchester, which was exported to New Zealand in the late 1980's where it was acquired by Dr. Greg Beacham of Beacham Jaguar. There it underwent a complete restoration by them to the highest possible standard and the modifications included having air-conditioning, rack and pinion steering, an alternator and a limited slip differential fitted and the brakes were improved and later an all-synchromesh gearbox with electric overdrive was fitted. It was then re-imported into the United Kingdom and sold by Beacham's sole agent in the UK.
It is still in excellent condition throughout and the interior can be described almost as new and it has only covered 6,300 miles since the restoration was finished. It has been converted to run on unleaded fuel and comes with a stainless steel exhaust and this is probably one of the finest MkII's you will find on a long days march.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
