Originally introduced for the 1939 season, the Tiger 100s head and barrel changed to aluminium castings in 1950 and in 1957 gained a twin port head. The pre unit Tiger 100 was eventually replace by a new unit construction machine for the 1960 model.
The 1959 Triumph T100 was purchased by the current vendor in 1972 to go to college on and then to his workplace and the machine was maintained by him. The T100 was then laid up for many years as the vendor managed to get a car. It was decided that he and his friend wanted to get the T100 back on the road, which they duly did. It has been ridden for many years afterward just on the odd run around the lanes and VMCC events. Only being sold as it's a bit heavy and tends to run away with him. It’s a lovely Triumph that has served the vendor well in his ownership. There is an oddity with the engine and frame number as it is just one digit out on the continuation logbook and the current V5C. It reads 028199 not 028499; there is no explanation for this at all, unless the continuation logbook has a typo error back in the day. The stamping looks to be correct for the machine. Sold strictly as is and seen.
