One of the most respected British sporting marks Riley, like so many other Coventry firms, entered the motoring industry via the bicycle. The family were originally weavers and turned to cycling in the 1880's when Rullion Riley founded the cycling company in 1896. The 'Red Wingers' as they were known were introduced in 1923 and ran continuously for the next five years and the last of the Riley's with the side valve engine were the 1645cc examples.
This particular example, which has the extremely attractive narrow body, has been fully restored by the present owner over the last six years and this is subsequent to having been rescued from long term storage. A testament to the quality of the work undertaken was given last year when it won the Riley registered concours and it is still in superb condition throughout with the most beautiful red leather button back seating.
The car comes with a reasonable file of information and handbooks and includes a VSCC eligibility document, which is available for inspection in the history file. There are a number of spares included with the car but these will be delivered to the new owner after the sale and include an engine, cylinder block, artillery wheels and some half shafts and other pieces.
This is a really lovely vehicle, which should entertain its new owner for many years to come.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
