Lot details Registration No: BPX 6L Chassis No: 1S51343 Mot Expiry: Oct 2013
PLEASE NOTE: We apologise but this lot has been withdrawn from the 17th April 2013 auction.
Finished in Old English White with Black leather upholstery and specified with the preferred four-speed manual transmission, chassis 1S51343 was manufactured during September 1972. Said to have begun life as a demonstrator for Wadham Stringer, the 2+2-seater apparently ran round on trade plates until being purchased by first owner Robert Tyrell and road registered as 'BPX 6L' on January 19th 1973. Sold to second keeper Brian Cox some thirty months later, the Jaguar accompanied him to Paris where it spent much of the next twenty-five years tucked away in an underground car park. Repatriated without ever having been registered in France, the E-type is believed but not warranted to have covered just 35,000 miles from new. Something of a timewarp, it is currently taxed and tested.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
